Don't Take This Personally, Coach, But ... THWACK!
So often fans throw projectiles — until it's in the air, it's just an object; it's not until it's thrown that it becomes a projectile — from the stands and don't even come close to a reasonable distance from their target. But last night, in a soccer game in Spain, one careening bottle at last found a place where its seed could find purchase.
It's not funny at all when a bottle hits a coach and knocks him unconscious, nope, but what is funny is when the coach, Juande Ramos, is polite about it, saying "Betis [the team his Seville squad was playing] fans aren't represented by the lunatic who threw that bottle." Yeah, that might be true, but they were also pelting his ambulance with rocks on the way to hospital. That seems much more representative.
