Photo Credit: Rick Scuteri/ [object Object] Thursday night football continues to be largely trash, as the Seahawks lost cornerback Richard Sherman for the season with a ruptured Achilles during tonight’s 22-16 win over the Cardinals. Several Seattle players used their postgame comments to be candid about the current schedule format—including wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who said that Thursday night games “should be illegal”:
Lest anyone try to criticize that by saying the longer break after a Thursday night game is worth the shorter break before it, he had an answer ready:
Linebacker Bobby Wagner weighed in, too: “It’s extremely tough. You look at the game, you watch the game, you see guys dropping down on both sides with serious injuries, minor injuries. We play a very physical game, a physical sport, so to ask us to turn around and be ready after Sunday—to turn around and have our bodies okay for that Thursday, it’s really tough to for us to do. Hopefully they look at it and see what’s happening and change this format.”
Head coach Pete Carroll declined to talk about his feelings on Thursday games, but the way in which he declined indicates that he probably has some negative feelings here:
