Brazil were expected to beat the Australians and advance, but in the 80th minute of a surprisingly even game, Brazil turned the ball over in the midfield. One pass later, Australian striker Lisa De Vanna was in on goal.

Her shot was saved, but her teammate, substitute Kyah Simon, calmly finished the rebound, and Australia led. Ten minutes later, the final whistle blew, and Australia were through.
