Baker Mayfield Given Meaningless Punishment For Grabbing His Dick
Heisman frontrunner and Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield let the hapless, now 1-10 Kansas Jayhawks get on his nerves Saturday. First, the Kansas captains snubbed Mayfield at the pregame coin toss. Then, during the game, they went after him for at least one cheap shot. But once Oklahoma was solidly in the lead, 27-3, Mayfield went off with some NSF-ESPN taunts, at the mouth and crotch level.
Mayfield apologized right after the game, but Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley added some small consequences for his star QB’s dick grab. He announced today that Mayfield will not start next Saturday in the team’s game against West Virginia, and he won’t be a captain, either.
Mayfield will still play, of course—probably following a series on the bench or whatever Riley feels won’t jeopardize an Oklahoma win—but Sooner authorities can now sleep soundly knowing that their beloved team doesn’t endorse the grabbing of one’s own penis in the direction of opponents.
This is the second time this season Mayfield has had to quickly apologize for some taunting. In September, Mayfield said he was sorry that he planted an Oklahoma flag on Ohio State’s midfield following his team’s triumph over the Buckeyes.
