Kevin Durant Donated $1 Million To Red Cross For Tornado Relief

Earlier today, word got out that Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant had donated $1 million to the United States Red Cross in the wake of yesterday's tornado, which leveled entire neighborhoods and killed at least two dozen in the OKC suburb of Moore, Oklahoma.

One of the greatest things about the gift is that Durant did it in secret through his charity, the Kevin Durant Family Foundation. Red Cross broke the story themselves on Twitter:

Durant's from the DC area, but he's lived in Oklahoma City since 2008, when the Seattle Supersonics relocated.

"As the day went on and I saw the footage and the casualties and the houses being blown away, it was tough to see," Durant told the Associated Press. "I call Oklahoma City my home. I go through Moore all the time. It's unfortunate. We're going to come together as a city like we always do and we're going to bounce back."

The photo of Durant's jersey hanging among the rubble was tweeted earlier today from Christine Van Timmeren, a local Fox News reporter in Oklahoma City. She was on a tour through Moore today, and took video and photo as she went.
