Novak Djokovic Gets To His Second Wimbledon Final After A Grueling Semi
After the longest men's semi in Wimbledon history—four hours, 43 minutes—top seed Novak Djokovic beat eight-seeded Juan Martin Del Potro 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 for a chance at his second Wimbledon trophy.
Djokovic had two match points in the fourth set tiebreaker, but Del Potro was able to battle his way out both times to necessitate a fifth set. Del Potro wasn't able to keep up in the fifth set, though, and Djokovic took over to mercifully end the match. As evidenced by the anti-climactic match point, a nearly five-hour match brings fatigue along with it, and Del Potro ended up with the worse of it.
Djokovic will face Andy Murray or Jerzy Janowicz.
