Phil Jackson Turns Down The Brooklyn Nets Head Coach Offer
Legendary NBA head coach Phil Jackson reportedly spoke to the Nets today about their recently-vacated head coach position. Ex-coach P.J. Carlesimo was just fired after the Nets lost in the first round of the NBA playoffs to the Chicago Bulls. Jackson hasn't coached in a couple of seasons, and he's expressed more interest in a front office position than one on the bench, but the Nets got him to at least hear them out. So...there's a chance?
Nah. Yahoo! Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted this out this evening:
Wojnarowski wrote that Nets billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov was even offering to make the hall-of-famer the highest-paid coach in team history, but Jackson didn't budge. With their first choice out of reach, the Nets will now go down their list of candidates to next coach the franchise.
