Report: Roger Goodell Will Be Asked Turn Over Cell Records In Kaepernick Collusion Case
Photo: Bob Levey/ [object Object] Roger Goodell, along with several NFL owners including Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft, and Bob McNair, are set to be deposed as part of Colin Kaepernick’s collusion case against the NFL, according to Adam Schefter. They will also be asked to turn over cell records and emails
If you haven’t yet blocked out your memory of the single dumbest controversy in NFL history, this new development might be a little bit satisfying, since the most pointless and farcical actions of Goodell’s commissionership involved a failed attempt by the NFL to obtain Tom Brady’s old texts while Brady was under a league investigation for maybe deflating some footballs. Assuming they comply, Goodell and the owners will now face similar scrutiny, albeit in a much more important case.
Kaepernick, despite putting up decent numbers as the 49ers’ starting quarterback last season, has received no contract offers in a year marked by injuries and poor quarterback play. He filed a collusion grievance against the NFL in October after claiming to have pursued “every possible avenue with all NFL teams and their executives.”
