Reports: Colts Hire Eagles Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich As Next Head Coach
Photo credit: Hannah Foslien/ [object Object] Fresh off of being brutally rejected by Josh McDaniels, the Colts have pivoted to Super Bowl-winning Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich as their next head coach, replacing Chuck Pagano. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Reich will sign a five-year deal in Indianapolis.
Reich was one of three candidates reportedly interviewed by Colts GM Chris Ballard after McDaniels turned them down. The Colts also considered Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and Saints assistant head coach Dan Campbell, but ESPN described Reich as the frontrunner throughout. This is sort of a homecoming for Reich, who started his coaching career with the Colts in 2008 under Tony Dungy.
Notably, the Colts have not announced a press conference to introduce Reich as their new head coach. Presumably they’ve learned an important lesson, and will wait until after he’s actually signed the contract.
