Wojtek Wolski Broke His Neck After Sliding Into The Boards In A KHL Game

Metallurg Magnitogorsk forward Wojtek Wolski injured his neck during Thursday’s KHL game against Barys Astana, and left the ice on a stretcher.
In the third period, Wolski unsuccessfully dove for a loose puck and went headfirst into the boards. He remained down on the ice as his teammates waved for the medics:
According to the club, Wolski broke the seventh and fourth cervical vertebrae in his spinal cord, suffered a concussion, and had bruising to his face. He will be out for the rest of the 2016-17 season.
Wolski gave a statement to TSN’s Gino Reda:
Wolski was in the NHL for eight seasons with five teams. He last played for the Washington Capitals in the 2012-13 season.
