FSU-Florida Fight Generates More Jameis Winston Rumors Than Punches
Earlier tonight, a fight broke out between the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles in the eighth inning of their baseball game in Jacksonville. Not long after, sports blogs posted articles alleging that Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston had either punched a Florida player or had been the victim of a punch in the face himself.
There's nothing to suggest any punches were thrown at all during the fight. Your broadcast video feed of the incident is above; we'll note that every person alleging the words "Jameis Winston" and "punch" in some combination tweeted such from a place that was not the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Winston did get involved, though. You can see him in the video, plus in this photo from the Florida Times-Union:
There's plenty that happens in the "brawl" we don't see onscreen; that having been said, there were plenty of actual journalists in Jacksonville covering the game tonight & you'd think they would mention something about Winston's condition. As far as we can tell, there's some pushing and shoving and other horseplay that usually accompanies a bench-clearer; it doesn't look like it ever escalated to punches.
