• Game 2 of the Doubleheader - Angeles 7, Red Sox 5. After losing the first game 8-4, the Angels were able to take advantage of "Mr. Blown Closer" Eric Gagne and score 5 runs in the final two innings. Gagne left the clubhouse without talking to the press, and seemed to only have the tepid endorsement of teammate Ortiz who when asked if he still supported the pitcher, replied with, "You've got to ask that to the manager." Big Papi backtracked a bit and added, "You know, people just need to let him do his thing." Even if that thing is taking boatloads of money in a trade and still not being as good as he was when he wore Dodger blue.

• Diamondbacks 4, Braves 0. Hottie Brandon Webb tossed his third straight shutout, being the first pitcher to manage that feat since Old Man Clemens in 1998. Two more shutouts and he passes Old Man Hershiser, who would be required to give up his broadcaster's mic immediately.

• Phillies 11, Pirates 8. Aaron "Bacon Pants" Rowand hit a three run home run and Pat Burrell went yard to mark his 1,000th career hit as the Phillies beat out the hot Tom Gorzelanny in front of a sell-out crowd at PNC Park. Sellout crowd? Why, of course: It was fireworks night in the 'Burgh.

• Cubs 2, Cards 1 The Cubs get sole possession of first place and Carlos Zambrano gets $91.5 million dollars. More in this later in the show.
