Gary Sheffield Shall Avenge Himself
This morning, we touched on the punches Gary Sheffield's melon absorbed at the hands of Indians pitcher Fausto Carmona last night. What we didn't get into was Gary's reaction after the game, specifically, his diabolical plot to avenge himself tonight when the teams meet again in Cleveland.
"Anytime you do that, we're going to have problems. I don't care who you are, how big you are. Anytime I get hit because you're upset about something else, we're going to deal with it during the game, after the game, or whenever you want to deal with it." Sheffield believes he was hit by other players and said Asdrubal Cabrera was one of them. Replays showed that Cleveland catcher Victor Martinez swung at Sheffield with his glove. "I know who they are," Sheffield said. "They're going to have to deal with me. Three strikes, you out. And if there's a fourth, it gets more violent. Trust me."
It gets more violent? Hmm, for everyone's personal safety, perhaps they should install a metal detector atop the Tigers' dugout steps tonight. Gary Sheffield vows revenge after brawl with pitcher [Detroit Free Press]
