Mandatory Credit: Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports Brett Wisely launched a two-run, walk-off home run with no outs in the ninth inning Friday night, giving the San Francisco Giants a 5-3 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game series.
The game concluded after the Giants announced the death of franchise legend Orlando Cepeda at age 86. A moment in silence in memory of Cepeda was held before the sixth inning.
After the Dodgers tied the game on Jason Heyward's sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, Los Angeles reliever Blake Treinen (2-2) walked Luis Matos on four pitches to lead off the home half.
Wisely then crushed his third home run of the season well over the high wall in right field, delivering the Giants just their second win in seven head-to-heads with their National League West rivals this season.
Giants closer Camilo Doval (3-1) was credited with the win despite allowing the Dodgers to knot the game in the ninth. Andy Pages tripled off the glove of Heliot Ramos in center field, Heyward followed with his fly ball to left.
San Francisco starter Logan Webb threw seven strong innings, Matos hit a solo home run in the fifth and Matt Chapman clubbed a two-run shot in the sixth to give the Giants 3-2 lead.
The homers were Matos' fourth of the season and Chapman's 10th.
Webb allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six.
The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on an RBI double by Gavin Lux to score Miguel Rojas, who had singled, and a run-scoring single by Will Smith.
Los Angeles starter Landon Knack was pulled two outs into the fifth, charged with just one run on five hits. He struck out seven without issuing a walk.
Wisely had two hits for the Giants, who have won four of five on their current homestand after losing the last five games of their road trip last week.
Pages added a single to his triple for the Dodgers, whose four-game winning streak ended.
