Grand Slam Sunday
Apparently it's like the Super Bowl of soccer on the other side of the pond today. Yeah, news to me too! Dubbed Grand Slam Sunday by the Brits, we just had Liverpool and Manchester United in the first match — final score: Man. U 1-0 — with Arsenal versus Chelsea in the second installment. In fact, that one should be getting under way any minute now. Well, I think so at least. I'm horrible with military time.
Arsenal- and Chelsea should be a great game though, and not just because Man. U has now jumped the Gunners in the standings. ( Yoink!) This game marks Ashley Cole's first return to Arsenal — the club he left in 2006 after being found guilty in a notorious tapping-up affair involving Chelsea. As you can imagine, this doesn't sit well with Arsenal fans. I'd expect sticks, stones and names to cause some damage today.
But hey, if you're last name isn't Cole, enjoy the game and consider this your open soccer thread. And because it's common practice around these here parts to give an arbitrary prediction, I'll go with Arsenal 2-1, for the sole reason that Chelsea is scared of playing in North London.
