Growing Up, Kevin Durant Wanted To Play For The Raptors

Kevin Durant joined The Dan Patrick Show to discuss his impressions of the Manti Te'o hoax story, his experiences of interacting with fans on social media platforms, the one skill he envies that LeBron James has, the team he wanted to play for growing up and playing as long as Kobe Bryant does in his career.

What do you make of this Manti Te'o story? "Man, I don't even know how I could comment on that. That's crazy. Hopefully everything works out for the best for him. I know it's a tough situation for him and his family. Hopefully everything gets better."

You're big on social media. You ever been duped by someone before? "Let me knock on some wood. That hasn't happened to me. It [reminds] you to be more cautious and careful when talking to someone on the Internet. Hopefully a lot of people can learn from it."

What's the one part of LeBron James's game that you wish you had? "His passing ability is on another level. The quick passes he makes, strong and the cross-court passes he makes to his teammates, are on another level, and he's a guy you sit back and enjoy watching. He's somebody I'd pay to go see."

Who did you want to play for growing up? "Believe it or not, I wanted to play for the Toronto Raptors; that was my favorite team. [Dan Patrick: Why?] I was a big Vince Carter fan growing up. I liked their jerseys to be honest. They were a new team when I was growing up, so I wanted to be a part of that. [Dan Patrick: You loved Vince Carter because of his jumping ability?] His enthusiasm he showed, just his athleticism, and how he brought Toronto from being one of the newer teams in the league to almost going to the Finals. He changed the culture there in Toronto."

You see yourself playing as long as Kobe Bryant is playing? "I hope so. I would love to. He's a guy you look at and see he takes care of himself. He's dedicated to the game– not just on the court, but taking care of his body, eating right - and you can tell that 17 years in, he is still playing at a high level. That is something I would love to get to."
