No one is covering the World Cup, already, better than The Guardian, and today's whimsical contribution to the cause looks at the most ridiculous haircuts in World Cup history.

Carlos Valderrama's famous explosion of hair flavor is obviously on the list, as is the time the entire Romanian team dyed their head bright yellow after upsetting England in 1998. As you would probably expect, there's a fair share of mullets around as well.


But without a doubt, this number, pictured, from a Nigerian player in 2002, is maybe the best haircut we've ever seen. It's nice to see a hairstyle that consists primarily of what a college kid keeps trying to unsuccesfully grow in his closet. That, or Bonzai trees.
