Idiot On The Field Invades Awful Brazil-Iraq Match
There’s a lot of pressure on the Brazilian men’s soccer team at these Olympics after they crashed out of their own World Cup two years ago in a historic, humiliating 7-1 beatdown from Germany. Brazilian men have never won gold in Olympic soccer, so a first-time tournament win on home soil would redeem some of the emotional turmoil of the most recent Maracanazo. Unfortunately, they have been awful thus far.
After earning a 0-0 tie with South Africa thanks to some terrible finishing, they followed it up with a scoreless encore in a listless match with Iraq. Brazil were the aggressors, and they produced a series of near-misses, but nobody could convert. It was frustrating and bad. The best highlight of the match was this here Idiot On The Field running around and getting owned in the 88th minute. Savor it.
The Brazilians take on Denmark on Wednesday, and they face potential elimination.
