Ignorant Bird Almost Gets Mushed By Bunt

Birdfriend! I know it’s nice to sit in the grass, but go be in outfield! It’s much safer there.
In Tuesday’s 10-2 Diamondbacks win, a bunt from Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet headed straight for the chilling bird, but Paul Goldschmidt saved its life—and scared the crap out of it—by fielding it with inches to spare.
Cameras later caught the bird still relaxing in the grass, apparently uninjured.
I’m no bird expert (I’m working on it), but that appears to be a mourning dove, the same type of bird that Randy Johnson disintegrated in Arizona in 2001.
