And just like that Jack Edwards cashes in all that Boston good will.
Here's the thing: Jack Edwards is either the world's most ingenius troll or a crazy person. Sure, the line of distinction there is razor thin, so it's hard to definitively say that Jack Edwards is crazy; maybe he's entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Except, Jack Edwards is fucking crazy.
While ostensibly offering play-by-play for the Boston Bruins, noted homer Jack Edwards went on a rant about Pittsburgh's reformed/maybe-not-reformed goon Matt Cooke's nomination for the Masterton Award for perseverance and dedication to hockey, last year. He criticized the Pittsburgh writers' justification—that Cooke had turned over a new leaf after he, in Edwards's words, "assassinated" Marc Savard—and doubled-down on the crazy homerism.
Segueing perfectly with his assassination metaphor, Edwards equated Cooke's nomination for the award to "nominating Sirhan Sirhan as the prisoner of the year. An outrageous lack of judgment [ed. note: !!!] on the part of the Pittsburgh press."
Update 2:15 p.m.: Edwards has since apologized, and Matt Cooke has since "assassinated" again.
