Jared Lorenzen, At 320 Pounds, Is Still Playing Quarterback
Holy shit! That, on the right there, is present-day Jared Lorenzen, formerly of Kentucky Wildcat and New York Giant fame. He was best known as Eli Manning's dump truck of a backup. Now he's a dump truck of a nose tackle, playing quarterback.
In mid-December of last year, Lorenzen signed with the Northern Kentucky River Monsters of the Continental Indoor Football League, hoping to recapture the magic he enjoyed with the team in 2011 when he threw for 3,473 yards and 81 touchdowns.
Head Coach Brian Schmidt said "I field several times a day the question is Jared coming back? Today is a day that I can definitely say yes, and a day River Monster Fans can be excited for. Having a QB the caliber of Jared improves not only the River Monsters, but league as a whole. "
The season started tonight for the River Monsters, who are up 15-8 on the Bluegrass Warhorses at the half and...really, what you need to take away from here is that Jared Lorenzen— listed at 6'4" and 320 pounds—is still playing quarterback in a football league. No matter how you slice it, that's damned impressive.
Update: Like I said, damned impressive.
