Last Night's Winner: Derek Anderson
In sports, everyone is a winner—some people just win better than others. Like the Browns occasionally starting quarterback who was finally released from his own personal Purgatory—even if Purgatory isn't exactly sad to see him go.
It's never easy to learn that you've been replaced by an all-world talent like Seneca Wallace, but Derek Anderson probably felt giddy anyway when he was cut loose by Cleveland yesterday. Situations like this are the reason why the term "no love lost" was invented:
The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner," Anderson wrote Tuesday in a terse e-mail when asked for a reaction to being released. "I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured.
"I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them."
Gee, they're going to miss you too, Derek. Of course, in order to live out his revenge fantasy, Anderson has to find a team first—unless he plans to gather a rag tag group of football misfits and challenge the Browns to game where the loser has to do the winner's chores for a whole month. (I would pay to watch that game, by the way.)
He sort of apologized later, which is very big of him considering that the people he's saying sorry to cheered an injury to one of their own players. That sounds pretty ruthless to me.
Maybe they really don't deserve winner? Good thing they're stuck with the Browns.
Honorable Mention: Jim Sorgi. What are the odds of finding that will let you be his backup too! If all else fails, he can always do yard work for Cooper.
