Looks Like The Knicks Will Have An Orange Alternate Jersey

Last night, birthday boy Iman Shumpert instagrammed—then quickly deleted— this picture from an Adidas photoshoot in Los Angeles. I'd put good money on this being an official-unofficial leak of the Knicks's new third jerseys.

The Knicks haven't been big on alternates—as this great uniform history on The Knicks Wall shows, they haven't been big on jersey changes period, except for that awful 1979 redesign. But it's a new era, one where Brooklyn Nets gear is selling like organic farm-to-table hotcakes, and you've occasionally got to break with tradition to stay competitive on the merchandise market.

A third jersey, with orange as its primary color, was rumored to be in store for the Knicks last year, but for whatever reason it never came to pass. Instead the Knicks suited up in special orange-on-orange monstrosities for the Christmas Day game. The blue lettering on these is a relief for retinae everywhere.
