Forbes may have named Man U the most valuable franchise in sports, but they'll be getting a few less Malaysian ringgit. Muslim clerics have banned Man U jerseys in Malaysia because of their Red Devil crest.

Shame, he seems like such a happy little devil. But no matter.

Despite the Old Trafford side having an estimated 81 million followers in Asia, one senior cleric said: "You are only promoting the devil."

"This is very dangerous. As a Muslim we should not worship the symbols of other religions or the devils," another added.

"It will erode our belief in Islam. There is no reason why we as Muslims should wear such jerseys, either for sports or fashion reasons."

Well, unless you supported them before Giggs, there's no reason you should be wearing that jersey anyway, you bandwagoners.

Also banned: Barcelona, and the national jerseys of Brazil, Portugal, and Serbia (that one's probably not an issue) because they feature crosses on their crest. I'm going to assume Israel's jersey, because it doesn't feature any religious symbols, is totally kosher in Malaysia.
