Last night's NBA Finals Game 1 Mavericks victory over the Heat was an impressive one, and a fun one to watch; we feel optimistic about the series as a whole. (Though a scary part inside us keeps whispering nasty matters about a sweep.)

But — and we apologize for this in advance — we'd like to talk a bit about Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. We know we poke a little fun at Cuban around here, but we hope it shines through that we actually kind of admire Cuban; if all owners were like Cuban, we'd have chaos, but having just one give us a recognizable face in a world we're not typically invited to. Cuban's wild gesticulations last evening, like the on in the picture, were all the more impressive considering he was blogging the game on his Web site. Actually, it was blogging himself AT the game, which was entertaining enough too. Look, it's a sweaty Cuban shaking David Stern's hand. Hey, it's Mark surprised his team is up at halftime. Sure, most of the posts had the depth of a halftime interview, but who cares about that. Mark Cuban, on one of the biggest days of his life, kept running to his computer and typing on his blog.

We can't nail down exactly what to say about that ... but we think it might be outstanding.
