Mark Sanchez's Childhood Best Friend, Now A Jet, Was Once A Horrible, Malevolent Teenager
On Saturday, the Jets drafted Scotty McKnight, a wide receiver from Colorado, in the seventh round, in large part because Mark Sanchez spoke highly of McKnight. The two have been friends since age 9.
Sanchez and McKnight ultimately parted ways and went to different high schools. Without the steadying hand of Sanchez, noted mentor of high schoolers, McKnight did some weird stuff. Some of his thoughts he wrote down in a journal. And some of the thoughts in the journal are now in the hands of the New York Post! What are the odds?
Here's the Post:
One of the entries McKnight and Tesoro teammate Sam Smith wrote referred to gluing the teacher naked to a wall, cutting off her feet and killing her family while she watches, according to court documents.
"I am planning on coming in your room late one night while you're still working," read one partial entry. "I will smother you in gasoline and light your head on fire ... "
McKnight, reached last night in California by The Post, doesn't deny writing those things, but vehemently said he and his friend challenged each other in a private prank, using outrageous word images.
McKnight's now somewhere in between Bart Scott and Braylon Edwards on the Jets' in-house craziness ladder, provided it hasn't yet been frozen by labor strife.
