Mavs Blow Shot At Wide-Open, Fast-Break Buzzer-Beater By Calling Timeout
The Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons were tied with seconds to go in the Orlando Pro Summer League championship game. The Pistons inbounded, but Luis Montero stopped anyone from getting a good look inside. Dwight Buycks ended up with the ball with just seconds to play. He looked up court. A summer league championship was free and clear!
Unfortunately, Mavericks coach Mike Weinar had called timeout. Dallas didn’t score on its final regulation possession, so the game would head to overtime, where, fortunately for them, Johnathan Motley broke an 81-all tie with a last-second jumper and the Mavs won anyway.
