Men's Field Hockey Has The Olympics' Best Blood Feud
Men's field hockey, as Stefan Fatsis explains on this week's excerpt from Slate's Hang Up and Listen podcast, will be one hell of a trip in the 2012 Olympics, even though the USA isn't playing.
There'll be the usual quirks of men's field hockey: the gender-bending aspect—we're used to girls in skirts but find big dudes—and the playing surface—it's real astroturf (and blue, too, like Boise State!), so the game is ultra-fast. But this time around there's some serious geopolitical intrigue at stake. Britain and Argentina will clash and reignite a three-decades-old feud over the Falklands. This will be great. Listen up.
