Mike D'Antoni Resigns As Knicks Coach
At 1:44, we received an email saying Mike D'Antoni was stepping down as Knicks coach. It supposedly came "straight from the D'Antoni family," but we hadn't dealt with the source before, couldn't confirm, and wasn't particularly the kind of thing that's worth getting wrong.
A half-hour later, Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that D'Antoni did indeed resign, citing "conflicting visions of the club's future." Carmelodrama is very real and very destructive.
Assistant coach Mike Woodson will take over the rudderless Knicks in the interim. As for D'Antoni? Our tipster, currently batting 1.000, says that "he has either the Wash or Charlotte job lined up, otherwise he would not have left." For what it's worth.
