Mike Green's OT Goal Lifts Capitals Over Rangers In NHL Playoffs
Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green scored a power play goal against the New York Rangers with 12 minutes left in overtime to win the game and put the Caps up 2-0 in the NHL's Stanley Cup conference quarterfinals.
The Caps had a power play because Rangers player Ryan McDonough shot a puck over the glass and received a delay of game penalty. With a little over a minute left in the power play, Capitals' center Mike Ribeiro passed the puck to Green, who slapped a one-timer into the net and sent the Verizon Center into raptures.
Game three is Monday in New York.
