Mike Hoffman Skips The Puck Past Jonathan Bernier For A Truly Freakish Goal
I think I’ll be giving Ottawa’s Mike Hoffman way too much credit if I imply in any way that he knew what he was doing here. But even if his goal yesterday against the Colorado Avalanche in Stockholm, Sweden was a complete accident, it’s still something I’ve never seen before.
As Hoffman tried to dump the puck behind the net from the blue line at the start of the second period, the biscuit took an unexpected bounce and spun right towards Avs goalie Jonathan Bernier, jumping off Bernier’s right pad and in the net before the he could fully process its bizarre flight path.
Bernier is infamous for goals like these, but he’d have to be supernatural to be ready for that. Ice must be different in Sweden.
