NBA Roundup: Celtics Finally Win! (Just Kidding, They Lost As Usual)

Notes on Sunday's games in the National Basketball Association ...

• Chapter 18: I Am Eaten By Wolves. We don't mean to dwell on the negative, so we'll put it this way: The Celtics almost won on Sunday, which means they don't really suck as much as you though they did. And hey, they'll most likely get a lottery draft pick! Yay! Boston lost its 18th straight on Sunday, and we seriously can't remember a more somber time to be a Celtics fan than now. Minnesota's Ricky Davis hit a jumper at the buzzer for a 109-107 win (he finished with 28 points). Paul Pierce had 29 points for the Celtics, who are six losses from the NBA record of 24 set by Cleveland in 1982.

• A Cavalier Attitude. Ever since LeBron James did his T.O. impression last week (he complained that the Cavaliers aren't up-tempo enough), Cleveland has been, well, winning. We don't notice the Cavs running or scoring that much more than before, but results have been positive, including Sunday's 99-90 win over the Lakers. Sasha Pavlovic had 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and James had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kobe Bryant had 36 points for LA.

• How Sweet It Is. In what was supposed to be a lost season for the Heat, they showed that they're still dangerous. Dwyane Wade had 18 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter in a 100-85 win over the Spurs. Shaquille O'Neal had 16 points in 25 minutes for Miami, which has won five of its past six. Meanwhile, the feud between Mark Cuban and Wade continues. Fun!

• Eclipse Of The Sun. The Suns are 1-2 without Steve Nash (sore right shoulder), which should give some indication to how important he is. Phoenix was also missing Boris Diaw (back spasms) in a 116-103 loss to the Bulls. Chicago's Kirk Hinrich had 29 points.
