Nuggets Make Their Move (About Time)

Question: Shouldn't the Nuggets be better than they are? At 5-3, they're not exactly loafing, I know. But when Allen Iverson came over to join Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith last season, wasn't that supposed to be hugely significant?

Injuries and whatnot curtailed their production in the second half of last season, but shouldn't they now be ripping every opponent a new one? So many questions, and I'm not the one to answer them (I can't even figure out how to work the can opener). So on Monday they beat the Cavaliers, and that's a start I suppose. Iverson scored a season-high 37 points and Smith had 29 in the 122-100 win. "They didn't steal my spotlight,'' said Anthony, who had 22 points and nine rebounds. "They did what they were supposed to do. They took advantage of the defense that they threw at us.'' Actually this photo reminds me of the only amusing line in Dennis Miller's debut show on Versus last week: "Only [Iverson's] right arm can get a cab."

• The Sting. With Vince Carter out for an undetermined amount of time with a sprained ankle, the Nets struggled to an 84-82 loss to the Hornets on Monday. Chris Paul made a tiebreaking layup with 2.6 seconds remaining and finished with 27 points.

• AK-47 Downs Kings. Brad Miller missed the game witha bruised thigh, as Sacramento lost to Utah 117-93. Carlos Boozer had 32 points and 10 rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko had 15 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.
