Oxbow Wins The 2013 Preakness Stakes
Oxbow won the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes this evening at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Oxbow led wire to wire, and the win was a feel-good story for the jockey, Gary Stevens. Stevens, 50, retired in 2005 and worked as an analyst. He returned this January.
Because of Oxbow's victory, we won't have a Triple Crown winner this year. Orb won the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, but got caught in the pack today and finished fourth. The last Triple Crown winner, Affirmed, won in 1978, 35 years ago.
Oxbow's odds going into the race were 15/1 to win. The Triple Crown finishes with the Belmont Stakes on June 8.
