Penn State And UCF Start Us Off With A Thriller
It's not easy to send a red-faced fellow named O'Leary home from Ireland unhappy. A last-second Penn State field goal did the trick this morning, though.
Our Saturday opener, which kicked off at 8:30 a.m. EDT, did not disappoint. If you know of Penn State kicker Sam Ficken, it's probably because of the time when he missed four field goals and an extra point in a one-point Penn State loss in 2012, and many people acted like it was the worst thing to ever happen to Penn State. So good for him.
Oh, and if you are of the mind that Christian Hackenberg is a Heisman candidate, you get something to hang your hat on: 454 yards on 32-of-47, including the impeccable last-minute drive to set up the field goal. He threw two interceptions, sure, but that'll happen when you are your team's entire offense.
