While the U.S. was busy losing to Honduras in a vital World Cup qualifying match, other nations around the globe spent their Wednesday engaged in international friendly matches. One such bout became especially friendly, as Argentina's road trip to Sweden turned romantic when a Barcelona jersey-clad fan rushed the pitch to embrace star Lionel Messi.

And here just a week from St. Valentine's Day!

Even better, this photo (from Getty's Jamie McDonald) shows that Messi returned the love, sort of. Alas, it wasn't enough to inspire a goal from the world's greatest player, who failed to score as the Argentinians eked out a close 3-2 win over the Swedes.
