Remind Us To Be Careful When We're In Georgia
A rather stunning story on ESPN.com this morning from Wright Thompson: The tale of Genarlow Wilson, a high school football player and honors student who is serving a 10-year sentence for having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17. Thanks to the strange — some might say insane — (since-repealed) laws of Georgia, "it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex." That is without question the most backward thing we have ever heard, or at least in the last 24 hours, at least since Andre Rison told us he loved us.
It's slightly more complicated than that; you can read the story yourself for all the major details. But without question, it's a travesty of the highest order, so much so that even Mark Cuban is getting involved, and he's usually so meek and submissive. If you read the story and feel it's as ridiculous as we think any normal person would, check out WilsonAppeal.com, which shows how you can help.
