Report: Jets give WR Allen Lazard permission to seek trade
New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard (10) and his teammates celebrate a touchdown pass, Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford. Wide receiver Allen Lazard has been given permission by the New York Jets to seek a trade, ESPN reported Tuesday.
Despite granting this permission, the Jets reportedly also are open to Lazard returning to the team.
Lazard joins former Green Bay Packers' teammates Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams as players who appear to be on their way out of New York.
Lazard joined the Jets ahead of the 2023 season when Rodgers came on board, and Adams was acquired by the Jets from the Las Vegas Raiders in October 2024. All three played for the Packers from 2018-21; Rodgers and Adams played together in Green Bay from 2014-21, and Lazard played with Rodgers as a Packer through the 2022 season.
The Jets informed Rodgers, 41, last month that they were moving in a different direction after two disappointing seasons.
Adams, 32, reportedly was informed by the Jets Monday that they are gauging his trade market. If no deal develops, the team is expected to release the veteran wide receiver as part of a broad reboot of the offense.
Lazard, 29, has 229 receptions for 3,077 yards and 27 touchdowns in 83 games (62 starts) with the Packers and Jets. He signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
