Russian Recovers From Being Choked Out, Wins Gold
Russian wrestler Roman Vlasov won his second gold medal in the Greco-Roman competition when he beat Denmark’s Mark Madsen in yesterday’s final round, despite having been choked out in an earlier semifinal.
Croatian Božo Starčević put Vlasov in the sleeper hold, which was ruled to be legal—though Vlasov was permitted to continue the match when he regained consciousness moments later. He went on to win 6-3 on points, putting him into the final.
