Sadly, This Sign Did Not Make It Onto College GameDay
Lots of good signs made it onto ESPN in Stillwater on Saturday. This was not among them.
Every sign is checked by ESPN employees upon entry to the filming area. Some of the ruder ones are often slipped through by using two-sided decoys, but Tanner didn't stoop to such depths. His perfectly reasonable, mature, and (for all we know) accurate sign was confiscated, perhaps at the hands of Herbstreit's personal jackbooted thugs.
Tanner says multiple employees had to confer over his sign to decide whether it was out of bounds, before ultimately deciding that it was. So if you've ever wanted to know where College GameDay draws the line between humorous and offensive, you're looking at it.
Free speech is dead. Personal hygiene too.
