7-Foot-1 High School Sophomore Plays Basketball Like Kevin Durant
Thon Maker is a sophomore at Carlisle High School (Va.), and he's getting a lot of buzz as a seven-foot-one center who doesn't move around like a big man, in a good way.
In his highlight reel, Maker's agility resembles a stretched-out Kevin Durant. The center is all over the court, driving, pulling up for jumpers, and sinking threes. The reality is that this is all coming against inferior high school competition, but even in a vacuum, Maker's ability is still impressive.
Regardless of the opponents, Maker's versatility and talent has put him at the top of the list on ESPN's Class of 2016, but he has two more years of high school—and at least one year of college ball—before any NBA appearances. For now, we'll just have to enjoy him sonning some opponents who can't buy cigarettes yet.
