Should Tre Mason Have Taken A Knee?
Over on Slate, Advanced NFL Stats' Brian Burke tries his hand at answering a classic armchair-QB question from Monday's national-title game: Should Tre Mason have taken a knee before that last Auburn touchdown?
You should go give his argument a read. The quick version is that, after Mason's score, the Tigers had an 81 percent chance of winning. Had Mason taken a knee, Burke figures, Auburn's chance of winning would've dropped to 73 percent, and that doesn't factor in the prospect of penalties, turnovers, or lost yards. He explains this in a lot more detail. Check it out.
