Team Concedes Penalty With Head-First Tackle
Berwick Rangers, a team that is actually based in England, plays in the fourth level of the Scottish Professional Football League. Yesterday they beat Cowdenbeath FC, 1-0, on a successful Michael McKenna penalty on the 80th minute. Normally not news that would make the sports blogs, if not for how Berwick got the penalty.
It looks like Jordan Garden got the ball, right? Harsh.
The entire play is pretty great, even before the flopping fish tackle. On first view I thought the ball went in earlier, as it was bouncing around the penalty area, but it turns out that was just a boy touching the net. Plus the guy yelling (I think) “get in” makes for a great soundtrack. All in all, a great highlight.
