Team Liquid unblemished in capturing OWCS NA Stage 3 crown
Overwatch League Team Liquid defeated Spacestation Gaming in the grand final on Sunday to complete a perfect run through the Overwatch Champions Series 2025 -- North America Stage 3.
After going 7-0 in the regular season and advancing through the upper-bracket semifinals and final, Team Liquid had to battle before downing Spacestation Gaming 4-3.
The top three finishers in the playoffs earned Overwatch Champions Series 2025 World Finals invitations as well as cash prizes of $30,000 (first), $20,000 (second) and $14,500 (third). Lower finishers earned less: $10,500 for fourth, $7,500 for fifth and sixth and $5,000 for seventh and eighth.
The eight-team online competition began Sept. 6 with six weeks of round-robin play. The top six teams advanced to the double-elimination regional playoffs, which were best-of-five matches. The grand final was a best-of-seven contest.
Spacestation Gaming ousted Geekay Esports 3-2 in the lower-bracket final earlier on Sunday. Spacestation won 2-0 on Ilios Control before Geekay captured the next two maps, 2-1 on Rialto Escort and 3-2 on King's Row Hybrid.
Spacestation Gaming responded by winning 3-1 on Suravasa Flashpoint and 98.95m-86.82m on Esperanca Push.
Team Liquid opened the grand final with a 2-1 win on Ilios Control before Spacestation reeled off 3-2 wins on Rialto Escort and Hollywood Hybrid. Team Liquid evened the match with a 142.41m-20.36m victory on Esperanca Push, then took the lead with a 3-0 win on Suravasa Flashpoint.
Spacestation stayed alive with a 4-3 victory on King's Row Hybrid, but Team Liquid won the whole competition with a 2-1 outcome on Watchpoint: Gibraltar Escort.
