The Rams Signed A 403-Pound Lineman
Ole Miss had tackle Terrell Brown officially listed at 385. That was either a lie, or he's had a sedentary spring, because after the Rams signed him as an undrafted free agent earlier in the week, they put him on the scale and got a big surprise.
Actually, we weighed him in at 403," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. "We had him in for a rookie tryout and he had some issues we had to clear up from a physical standpoint. But we put that behind us. We worked him out on both sides of the ball and decided that his best position would be offensive tackle.
"He's a defensive lineman trying to convert to offense, but he got through practice.''
The 6-foot-10 Brown hasn't played much at all. He redshirted his first year in juco, and missed his second due to injury. He sat out a year after transferring to Mississippi, and only saw action in 10 games his final two seasons.
NFL.com tried to recall anyone in the league larger than Brown. They came up with Michael Jasper, who weighed in at 448 pounds after his senior year of college, and looks hilarious in photos, and Mike Williams, who tipped the scales at 410 pounds after signing with the Redskins in 2009. (He also looks hilarious in photos.)
Update: Here's Brown with Rams's third-round selection, WR Stedman Bailey. If listed weights are to be believed, Bailey (5-10, 197) weighs less than half of Brown.
