This Is Not Manny Ramirez
After being unable to find a job literally anywhere else, Manny Ramirez made his debut yesterday for the EDA Rhinos in Taiwan's top league. The fans were enthusiastic, and slightly confused.
The gent on the sign is Johnny Cueto, another smiley Dominican-born player with dreadlocks. Close enough? It's a forgivable mistake, if only because the Taiwanese fans were really, really, really excited to see Manny be Manny. Busted Coverage has a rundown of the circus.
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Here's his very first CPBL at-bat, a liner through the left side. Naturally, the ball was taken out of play and saved for posterity.
