Trent Williams Is An Unkillable Force Of Nature
We found out Saturday that Redskins tackle Trent Williams would miss the Pro Bowl after being involved in a Honolulu nightclub brawl, his roster spot going to Matt Kalil. (Aside: how did Kalil drop whatever he was going, get to Hawaii, and get ready to play so quickly? I think each conference has someone on call in case a Pro Bowler gets into a club fight.) We knew Williams was tased and hit with a bottle. We didn't know just how little effect it had on the man who calls himself "Silverback."
[Williams] was Tasered in the back and cracked over the head with a champagne bottle during the melee yet still did not fall to the ground, sources say.
"It was like he was Jason on Friday the 13th — man just wouldn't go down," one source said of the 6-foot-5, 318-pound Williams.
Well, that's a terrifying situation. You tase the guy, and nothing. You brain him with a magnum of Dom, nothing. That's the point where you run.
The perpetrator didn't run very long. Michael Miske Jr. was arrested Saturday night and charged with second degree assault. Miske owns M Nightlife, the club where the brawl went down, and also runs a pest control business on the side. He's the only one arrested so far, but five others are being investigated in the assault. Williams will not face charges.
Williams received seven stitches to his scalp, and took two separate concussion tests. He passed both, but the league thought it best to keep him out of the Pro Bowl anyway. Meaning the NFL has never been as proactive on brain trauma as it was for a guy who got hit with a champagne bottle at a club.
