A rule of thumb: if you'd like to learn about the next culture-war shitstorm before it hits, you're best served by visiting sort-of Bruins goalie Tim Thomas's Facebook page. (I say "sort-of" because Thomas has announced he'll take next year off from the NHL.) Thomas weighed in on Obamacare and birth control before it was cool, and he boycotted the Bruins' visit to the White House. When Thomas announced, on July 26, that he "stand[s] with Chick-fil-A," we knew this mess—regarding an executive's words against gay marriage—would become A Thing. And now it is!

But as with most of Thomas's other Facebook proclamations, he's one man left without a whole lot of support. Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day came and went on Wednesday, and only a few athletes dared shill for those "discriminatory fucknuggets" (as Chris Kluwe wisely put it).

Here's Stewart Cink, who also reps the Christian In-N-Out burger chain in his avatar:

This is golfer Webb Simpson, who also retweeted articles mentioning a "new McCarthyism":

Here's Detroit Lions linebacker Justin Durant in a lengthy, loose stream:

@JDurant52 What happened w/ Chick-Fil-A?

@JDurant52 Smh RT @Reckoner67: @JDurant52 Somehow eating chicken sandwiches chooses your stance on gay marriage...or something

@JDurant52 Lmaooo RT @_WestsideBG: @JDurant52 owner said some shit bout he doesn't support gay marriage. People fake upset and gonna fake boycott

@JDurant52 Chick-Fil-A not even open on Sunday how people shocked that the owner feels that way?

@JDurant52 So people not gon get the best chicken sammich and lemonade on the planet because of a personal belief? Word?

@JDurant52 Chicken too tasty RT @ThatStatBoy: @JDurant52 Would you boycott Chick Fil A if the owner came out and said slavery was a good idea?

@JDurant52 I can tell some of y'all never had that Chick-Fil-A lemonade

@JDurant52 Sh*t is amazing

@JDurant52 Arnold Palmer me RT @MooPsyMoo: @JDurant52 the sweet tea be on point too

Redskins kicker Graham Gano tweeted "Proudly supporting Chick-fil-A today" with an appended photo of a big bag of chicken, but he's since removed the tweet.

And here's Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson earlier today, seemingly blissfully unaware of the whole brouhaha:

We wish we were Ty Lawson in this whole thing. We really do. Obliviousness: that move is clutch.
