UConn Trick-Shot QB-Turned-Trump Valet Fired Due To Homeland Security Investigation
Remember Johnny McEntee? We featured him in these pages seven-some years ago, as the UConn quarterback displayed some incredible sleight of hand in a trick-shot compilation video. Johnny later dropped the diminutive and became John McEntee, Donald Trump body man, except now he’s not even that anymore because CNN reports McEntee has been fired due to a Homeland Security investigation for “ serious financial crimes.”
McEntee had been one of Trump’s longest-serving staffers, but now joins a long list of Trump’s people to have been pushed out over security clearance issues. CNN says that until the former Huskies signal-caller was escorted out of the White House yesterday, he “was nearly constantly at the President’s side.”
But it’s not all bad news for Johnny Mac! Almost immediately after his firing—which again we’ll note by report was because he is under Homeland Security investigation—the Trump campaign announced it had hired McEntee:
Trump reelection campaign manager Brad Parscale announced McEntee’s hire alongside that of Katrina Pierson, a Trump campaign spokesperson in 2016 who will join the 2020 campaign as a senior adviser.
“As we build out our operations for the 2018 midterm elections and the 2020 reelection campaign, we are pleased to welcome back two outstanding members of our 2016 team,” Parscale said in a statement. “We need the help of proven leaders such as Katrina and John to promote the President’s growing portfolio of achievements across the country.”
Surviving being fired for a “serious financial crimes” investigation and being hired by the same people the next day might be Johnny McEntee’s most impressive trick yet.
