UNH Fires Basketball Staffer Amid Allegations Of Locker Room Voyeurism

Scott A. Weitzell, director of operations for the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team, was charged Wednesday with attempting to falsify evidence and resisting arrest. The charges stem from police attempts to execute a search warrant while investigating allegations that Weitzell had secretly videotaped the men's locker during a January 20th road game at the University of Vermont.

Weitzell allegedly hid a cellphone in the locker room and used it to record his own players. UNH campus police became aware of the incident exactly one month after the game, on February 20th. Somehow, members of the team found out about the camera and reported it to campus officials.

When police arrived at his home, Weitzell tried to hide his cellphone and refused to cooperate with officers. He will likely face further charges, including invasion of privacy, as the investigation continues. Police are also investigating whether other instances of locker room snooping occurred. Weitzell was fired Monday and banned from the campus.
